My journey in blogging began with Blogger. A very close friend/sister and fellow writer inspired me, by giving me the opportunity to contribute to her blog “Empress Chronicle,” as a guest mommy blogger. I felt humbled and honored with the platform to share with other mothers my limited experiences in raising my children, being a wife, balancing my career, child rearing, finding family time, and the general lifestyle of a mommy blogger. Blogger became an introduction into the world of blogging, and the blogging community. I am using the above picture of the jelly fish as a symbol of transition from Blogger to Word Press. I felt so transparent during the process of learning how to blog, and revealing myself as a writer.
I enjoyed contributing to her blog so much that I decided to start my own blog. Last year, I considered myself a novice blogger. However, I knew that I could use more time growing and learning how to blog. However, if I wanted to add any additional logos, badges, or products everything had to be done with help of my close friend, and by hand to enhance the look of my blog. During the time that I began blogging, I decided that taking a blogging course would benefit my blogging journey.
The choice to make the transition from Blogger to Word Press began with taking the Blogging School course. Rosetta Thurman had her signature Blogging school course that took place over a five week period where I could learn the fundamentals of blogging. The Blogging School introduced ideas on how to monetize my blog, self hosting, making my blog a business, and finally the beauty of Word Press. I joined many Face Book groups where the lead discussion seemed to be switching over from Blogger to Word Press and the pros and cons of both platforms.
At the same time, I joined various discussions speaking with other bloggers online, a wonderful offline meeting of Atlanta Bloggers helped determine my decision to switch over to Word Press. We discussed the transfer process and how using a vehicle such as Tanya@Blogelina.com works with new bloggers for the transfer and design.
I joined an all day Twitter Party with Tanya@Blogelina.com, where you could win a free transfer and design. Upon winning the Twitter contest that sealed the deal to transfer from Blogger. I knew with my busy schedule as a wife of one and a mother of two that making the transfer without technical support and knowledge of the process would be a daunting task. However, working with Tanya@blogelina.com the transfer and design process was flawless and worth the effort of joining the all day twitter party.
