I rarely get the opportunity to finish an entire novel from beginning to end. However, as part of my self-care program for the new year. I am making the effort to read at least 5 books a month. The first book in my line up for January is “Amanda Wakes Up.” I have to admit that this hilarious, eye-opening book into the world of TV news, from one who had to navigate it backwards in an awesome pair of heels.
Amanda Gallo is my kind of girl: super ambitious, go-getter, funny, self-aware, confident, and totally unable to resist a makeover. Like all of us Amanda is trying to make it in this fast-paced world with integrity, dignity, and humanity. Who knew that the newsroom had so much drama, intrigue, and hysteria that we see every morning on our television screens. Amanda is my favorite heroine to come along in a very long time.
Every page is fun-filled, with serious moments in politics and media, and Amanda’s honest efforts to juggle ambition, morality, and matters of the heart, will make you instantly fall in love with her quirky wit and intelligent style from the opening chapters.
Alysin Camerota shares a true coming of age novel, that delivers a story deep in the desire to have it all! I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review.
