Tara Pringle Jefferson, MA is a writer, speaker and self-care coach, dedicated to helping women become more selfish (that’s right!) in their everyday lives. She is the founder of the Bloom Beautifully, a bimonthly self-care subscription box for busy women and the founder of TheRenaissanceSuite.com, a hub for personal development and self-care. She lives in Ohio with her husband and two children.
MW: Can you tell our readers about yourself and your blog?
TJ: I’m the creator of TheRenaissanceSuite.com, an online hub for personal development and self-care. I created it on the heels of my most recent blog, TheYoungMommyLife.com, after I realized how many of my readers (young women between the ages of 18-35) were struggling to figure out what they wanted out of life and how to get it. I’ve written my way through a ton of discovery and self-exploration so I’m happy to share what I know (and what I studied in grad school) to help women write their best chapter.
MW: Describe how did you first get into blogging?
TJ: I started blogging at TheYoungMommyLife.com because I didn’t see any platforms that addressed the needs of young mothers. You had mainstream magazines and other websites that explored parenting but from a very white middle-class, two-parent, perspective. I wanted to explore what parenting looks like when you perhaps a bit unprepared, or younger than the national average.
MW: How would you describe your blogging style?
TJ: I blog as if my readers are my best girlfriends. Because they are, really. I enjoy the connection I have with my readers and I always strive to be transparent and authentic in my writing. But this is also a business for me as I’m a full-time blogger and business owner, so I make sure that I’m posting things that advance my mission.
MW: How did you decide to start your line of self care subscription boxes Bloom Beautifully?
TJ: I noticed that so many women would confide in me how burnt out they were. They were tired of the load they were carrying but they were hesitant to put it down. They didn’t want to appear weak or like they were neglecting any area of their lives. I wanted to create a community where self-care was not only acknowledged but encouraged on a daily basis.
MW: How do you manage being a busy mom, speaker, entrepreneur, and blogger?
TJ: Currently, I’m a one-woman shop — I write, I curate products, I keep my own budget, etc. But soon I’ll be delegating and bringing on a team to help pare down my to-do list. It’s hard to do it all yourself but I try to take it one day at a time. I ask my kids to help me when appropriate and make it a family affair. I also try hard to take the long view — to know that the work I’m doing today will ultimately get me where I want to go in the future.
MW: What type of networking do you think is better to enhance traffic to your blog?
TJ: I enjoy going to women’s empowerment events and meeting women who are interested in bringing more to their lives. Online, I really shine, as my introvert’s personality can feel comfortable sharing my life through photos on Instagram or in quick bursts on Twitter.
MW: Tell me about your proudest achievement.
TJ: My proudest achievement is definitely launching the Bloom Beautifully box. It’s definitely the biggest leap of my career so far and the reception has been fantastic! I’m so excited to be bringing women an opportunity to pour into themselves.
MW: What would be your ideal working environment?
TJ: My ideal working environment is the one I have now. Quiet with headphones and a ton of natural light.
MW: What was the most challenging moment in your blogging journey so far?
TJ: Learning to trust myself and launch products without fear.
MW: Do you have any specific goals for the next year?
TJ: My biggest goal is to grow the Bloom Beautifully box into THE best self-care box on the market, with the testimonials and subscriber numbers to prove it. I’m well on my way.
