It’s Thanksgiving week and I am sure most of you are sprinting around your house, or around your city, in order to get things prepared for your holiday guests this week. Thinking about it now – your guests will most likely be here within minutes, so I hope this post is coming at a good time for everyone. While you are running errands and deep cleaning every inch of your home, make sure you incorporate these easy ways to make sure your guests are comfortable into your checklist. Some of these tasks are a bit more time consuming than others, but most of them are easy, simple, and one might even save you some extra bucks! Keep reading to find out more:
Fill The Guest Bathroom With Essentials
Your guests shouldn’t feel awkward or bad about forgetting a toothbrush or body wash. I know I have definitely been in that boat before and it was really awkward when my host said, ‘Umm, sorry – I don’t have another toothbrush.” In order to skip that awkward moment, stock your guest bathroom with the essentials. This means that you need to have body soap, shampoo + conditioner, toothpaste, towels, hand towels, toilet paper, and face wash. A few extras such as extra toothbrushes, razors, floss, mouthwash, etc. are so nice, as well!
Tidbits & Wine says, “In a small basket I keep new, sample-sized items of soap, shampoo, conditioner, mouthwash, Q-tips, lotion, dental floss, toothpaste, and Tide To Go (to help avoid guests having to do laundry). I also keep a spare toothbrush, comb, hairdryer, and razor on hand. Many grocery and retail stores sell travel sizes of these items, but you can also pick them up from hotels whenever you travel.”
Adding these small essentials into your guest bathroom will make sure that your guests are comfortable and have what they need. There truly is nothing worse than not having the essentials when staying in a new place.
Keep Your Home Warm
During this time of year, it is very important to keep the home warm and cozy so that no one gets sick and everyone feels comfortable. I get that it can be very expensive though and that is why you should look into creative ways to keep the house warm while saving money at the same time. The perfect example of this is window films. Adding window films is a fantastic option because it’s like upgrading from single-pane to double-pane or from double-pane to triple-pane windows and they end up saving you quite a bit of money over time. For Atlanta Window Tinting, check out UHS Window Tinting and Blinds.
They are the #1 Window Tinting company in Atlanta and have amazing reviews to show for it. In fact, I dare you to search for a bad one – their won’t be one that you can find. UHS Window Tinting and Blinds has over 30 years of window tinting experience in Atlanta. This locally owned and operated company caters to not only residential properties but commercial, as well. They say, “Our extensive history with window films and treatments, has spanned decades and we continue to learn new things about our industry every day and apply them to the work we fulfill for our clients. We carry a full line of 3M window film products that include sun control, safety, security and decorative films.

Stock Your Fridge
Once again, there is nothing worse than not having the essentials or the things you “have” to have when staying in a new place. I always recommend finding out your guests’ preferences and trying to meet them. For example, do they like creamer in their coffee? A specific kind? If so, try your best to make it happen. I understand that you cannot take all requests and preferences, but if you know of something that they specifically cannot live without, try your best to get it for them. The holidays are built on traditions and it can be hard visiting a new place or house in place of another tradition, so if you do go out of your way to get something different for a specific guest, I am sure they will be so very thankful!
Offer Many Bedding Options
Everyone has different sleep needs. Some like fluffy, large pillows and others like thicker and firmer memory foam pillows. The same goes for sheets and blankets. While some like a lot of blankets and comforters, others cannot stand having a bed sheet. Everyone is different and that’s why you should offer many different options. Of course, just like with the food, you cannot worry about it too much, but do what you can do to make them feel at home.
Make Them Feel At Home
Last but not least, make them feel at home. “Being a good host is all about those few, important details that let guests know you’re happy they’re there and want them to be comfortable. Pick up an issue of their favorite magazine or a new book you think they’ll enjoy. DVR the shows they love. Place clean towels on the foot of their bed and fresh flowers on the nightstand.” —Nate Berkus, designer, and author.
