When I tell you that I love to show displays of gratitude and will probably share this gift of appreciation with my family for my whole life. It might be hard for you to believe that gratitude is something that should be practiced and executed in everyday life. I believe that it is something that most people over look or take for granted based on the daily demands of life, and that challenges and storms that present themselves to lose focus on your hopes and dreams.
So when I developed this idea to show gratitude to my friends and family each day, or to consciously be present in each moment that I am blessed to live, it is hard for me to believe that I never knew the importance of gratitude until I gave my life over to God again, and declared that I would serve only HIM and to reach into my prayer closet and become intentional with my life. I know that we are all faced with many storms in life before we reach sunshine.
But by having daily gratification in the midst of any storm the trials and tribulations can become less and better to deal with, not less painful by any means, but the overall goal is to appreciate and be thankful for what you have until the day arrives when you get what you wanted at the end of the day. I decided that I would not go a day without daily prayer, devotionals, affirmations, and at least a few minutes a day to breathe and really smell the roses.
I know that this may sound cliché but counting your blessings is a very good way to show gratitude not only to yourself but to others around you. I found that things that I worried about were not true worries, and the things in my life that I needed to fix, I had the resources to fix them and move forward with my life. Sometimes the greatest enemy is yourself, you can stop yourself from becoming GREAT or staying MEDIOCRE the choice is totally up to you, but along the way remain humble and have gratitude for each and every day that God gives you.
Gratitude changed everything. The first time I sat down and wrote down in my journal five things that I am grateful for in my life. By writing in my journal it helped to gain clarity and a clear vision of my life’s purpose and plan. I could clearly establish the things that were important and set apart the things that did not fulfill my spirit towards becoming a better wife, mother, and human being. I think that everything should have a “blue print,” including the practice of gratitude. I have seven awesome tips to continue to show gratitude throughout your day and the second half of the year!
